OUR STORY

We first met in passing on April 30 as Brandon was coming home from work and Keli was walking Bruiser -- then again, about 20 minutes later on the elevator. While Brandon had only lived in the building about a month, Keli had lived there for three years -- and was about to move to Houston. When the elevator doors opened, Keli walked in holding several empty boxes, so naturally, Brandon asked what she was doing with the boxes and Keli said she was moving. (Little did Keli know, Brandon already knew these answers -- he had been briefed by the valet earlier that afternoon!) A few minutes later, the concierge called Keli to inform her that a resident noticed she was moving and wanted to know if she needed extra boxes. Keli said yes, so the concierge asked if she'd like them to drop the boxes off at the front desk or bring them to her unit. Keli took a chance and asked that the resident deliver the boxes to her unit -- and a few minutes later, she heard a knock at her door. It was Brandon, with armfuls of moving boxes and a big smile.

HOW WE MET

Within just a few minutes, they exchanged numbers and Brandon invited Keli to the Denver Derby Party that weekend --- one of the largest parties of the year. Keli was thrilled because she had just sold her tickets that morning, after her friends backed out of going to the party. To return the favor, she invited Brandon to her going away party the next day, May 1, and he promised to attend. The going away party came (of course Keli was an hour late!) and Brandon patiently waited as she chatted with all the guests. When he finally seized his moment, he made it memorable -- complimenting Keli on her matching blue earrings and heels. While they only had a brief time together that evening, it was the following afternoon at the Derby Party when the relationship rapidly bloomed -- and based on looking at their first picture together, it's easy to see the love.

HE PROPOSED

Brandon devised an elaborate plan a month before the big day, enlisting the help of relatives, friends, and coworkers to pull it all together. After living in a corporate apartment for two months, Brandon said he made a mistake and forgot to renew the lease, so someone else had already rented the apartment and they had to move out, and given the short notice, Keli's parents house in Clear Lake was the only option. Keli was quietly dreading the move because their commute to work would now be an hour instead of 10 minutes. The move-out date coincided with a trip to Lollapalooza in Chicago (Keli loves music festivals), so they quickly packed up before flying out of state. They planned to take Keli's mom, Janelle, to dinner for her birthday once they returned from the airport. On the way to the restaurant, Brandon suggested stopping by an apartment complex they were hoping to move into in a few months. They unlocked the door and immediately Keli saw the surprise.
